I forgot to take my medication. Today, I feel like a truck ran over me again. It's my fault. The pain is just one of many reminders of the body of our human fallibility. I told my patients over and over, until I'm blue in the face, as studies have shown that drugs are inherently inefficient when left in the bottle. I have the same problem with antibiotics. On the rare occasions when I have to take, I need to get my wife to help me remember, a few days.Of course, I'm the king of multitasking, but failure to comply with an antibiotic regimen is something I fight like a personal demon. I will delay the start of antibiotics on purpose, hoping that I "just get better" I will not have to try to remember to take them.
